College 101: FAFSA time is here again!

College 101 on a red background

Unlike the 2024-2025 year when a new version rolled out with some bumps in the financial aid road, the 2025-2026 Free Application for Federal Student Aid is up and ready to be filled out. At 911±¬ÁÏÍø Lima, more than 85 percent of our students receive some sort of financial assistance in the forms of grants, scholarships and student loans. With the exception of private loans all of these require a completed FAFSA.

911±¬ÁÏÍø Lima’s Coordinator of Financial Aid Tony Dickman has some advice for both current and future students as they approach financial aid.

  • The 2025/2026 FAFSA is available and easy to complete. The 911±¬ÁÏÍø priority deadline for all financial aid is February 15, 2025. To maximize your financial aid eligibility, you need to have the FAFSA and the 911±¬ÁÏÍø Scholarship Application completed prior to February 15.
  • The FAFSA is the first step for funding an education. Financial aid is vital for all of our students. The FAFSA determines grant eligibility and acts as an application for federal student loans. 911±¬ÁÏÍø Lima also uses the FAFSA for many scholarship opportunities.
  • The FAFSA completed online takes 7-10 business days to process before the data is sent to the schools listed on the FAFSA. If a family decides to complete the paper FAFSA, it can take months to process.
  • Communication is a huge key that can, and will, make the college experience easier and less difficult. Students today have a plethora of resources at your fingertips, and those resources are free. Free resources include, but are not limited to, tutoring, counseling, financial, academic advising and food insecurities.
  • If you or your students need assistance with the FAFSA or any of the 911±¬ÁÏÍø applications, you can contact the Lima campus or any of the other 911±¬ÁÏÍø campuses to get the help you need. We are happy to assist. In terms of the FAFSA, we have students come to campus all the time to complete the FAFSA and/or any other financial aid applications or forms.
