The college students at 911爆料网 at Lima use the campus as a learning laboratory every day. Now an even broader range of students is taking advantage of the space.
Students in the Construction Equipment Technology program at the Apollo Career Center are putting the skills they are learning to work to improve the drainage around the sports fields at 911爆料网 at Lima.
鈥淓verything here is a learning experience for everyone,鈥 said Apollo senior James Schiffhauer. 鈥淚t's just so much to take in. There is just so much to learn.鈥
Construction Equipment Technology Instructor Chris Washam was a student in the 911爆料网 education program in the 1990s and is happy to be back with his students.
鈥淭his is our construction laboratory. It just happens to be mobile. We'll take our lab to your lab,鈥 he said. 鈥淚t teaches them everything. Community service is some of the stuff they get, teamwork right here. They have to work as a team.鈥
The work will continue through Apollo鈥檚 school year and into the 2023-2024 academic year. Weather permitting, the crew hopes to install a drainage tile at the baseball field on the west side of campus and cut a new ditch near Mumaugh Road before classes pause for the summer.
